CLC Pecans LLC

CLC Pecans CLC Pecans, LLC is a family-owned business in Lovington, New Mexico. They grow, harvest, and shell all of their own pecans, as well as shelling pecans for customers with their own trees. The orchard has 1100 hundred trees on 35 acres. The variety of nuts grown is Western Schley. Great care is given to the trees with frequent feeding and watering to produce a very sweet and meaty pecan. I would love to share pecan recipes.

What’s the best way to store Pecans/ how long will they keep? Keep in the refrigerator for up to a year, or in the freezer for up to two years.

How long have you been farming?  4 years

How long have you been a member of the Market?  4 years

Share a favorite memory of the Market.  I love most that I meet people from different places. I’ve shipped pecans all over the world. I just sold some to a man taking them to Japan.

How did you get into farming?  A good friend of mine passed away and left the orchard to his wife. She is 85 years old and couldn’t take care of the orchard, so I bought it so I could take care of it and keep his legacy going. His wife still live there. We help take care of her. She’s been able to stay around what is familiar and be reminded of her husband. They homesteaded the land, and she trusts us to take care of it.

Do you own or rent the land you grow on?  We own the orchard, as well as the shelling plant in Hobbs.

How was your growing season last year? This year? We had an excellent year last year. We believe the orchard is blessed – we have had an off year yet.

Besides farming, what takes up your time? What are your hobbies? Travel! We just got back from Portugal and Spain. We travel out of the country twice a year. I’m a former college professor…I taught languages (Spanish and English as a Second Language.)
