A chat with Grant in 2018

What is the signature item that you sell? Pastured Poultry – happy, stress free poultry.

How long have you been farming? 5 years

How long have you been a member of the Market? This is our first season

How did you get into farming? Grant is a generation removed from farming. Both of his grandfathers were farmers: one a poultry farmer, the other a vegetable farmer. Grant wanted to do be involved with something he could take control of and change.

Are you certified organic? While Lotus Farm is not certified, our farm as beyond organic: we are fully transparent; use organic grain for the chickens; every day the chickens are moved to a different pasture grazing space.

Besides farming, what takes up your time? Raising their two children (Cadence and Wade); Fishing, hiking, being outdoors

How would you describe yourself in one word? Happy

What is your favorite dish to make? Fried Chicken

Red or Green? Grant said Green; Val said Red. Then, Grant said “Make it Christmas.”

If you were a super hero what would your powers be and why? Ability to Fly, so I could see what the red-tailed hawks see when they scout my birds.

What is the strangest thing you’ve eaten? A grub worm. I had heard it would taste nutty; but it tasted dirty and was very grainy.

What have you done that you are most proud of? Grant said “Marrying Val and being the father of Cadence and Wade.”
